Mon Petit Chou Chou

Thursday, June 14, 2012

Last month, I finished a commission for local Boston stylist, Noelani Zervas, and her blog Mon Petit Chou Chou (it means "my little cabbage" and serves as a french term of endearment.)

We met in french class (oui!) both prepping for our upcoming trips to Paris. Lani's energy and flare for style was apparent even on those sleepy classroom mornings in Cambridge (managing to always have her miniature espresso cup and saucer, hair spun into effortless bun). After trading homework notes, and visiting her blog, Lani commissioned some fashion paintings.
Et voilà!

Paintings were finished in Dr. Ph Martins radiant watercolor, colored pencil, and crayon. (Click on images to enlarge).
Bostonians will spy the "Pru" peeking in the window (standing in for the La Tour Eiffel, bien sûr!) Lani also has an art history background and a passion for her Skinner auctions, so I tucked an antique frame behind her shopping bags.

For her web design, Lani called on a stellar local designer and branding company, the talented Jessica Sutton of JSGD. It was delightful to collaborate with these ladies on a fresh look!
Merci mille fois. X

A bientôt!

  2. Absolutely darling and délicieux!! J'adore!
This said, the chou in mon petit Chou refers to a delicious pastry, not a vegetable. A bit like in honey bunny. And a chouchou is slang for teacher's pet ^^

But anyway, I love the illustration, so pretty, Merci !

  3. Yes, here is Lani's explanation: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-G_rjUWdn0UI/T9C-SEp4K8I/AAAAAAAAFKQ/oJBHmAcQnOc/s1600/Screen+Shot+2012-06-07+at+10.27.56+AM.png

She is using it a term of french endearment/delicious pastry...BUT also loves that the literal is vegetable! :)
